This seems wrong to me. IMAP servers are tied to people, not hosts. If I visit your site, I want don't want my IMAP client to suddenly try to connect to your site's IMAP servers.
I agree, and given unfortunate history it's pretty clear that some fool(s) will implement it that way and claim that it's the standard. :-(
