I don't understand what you mean.  Both the TYPE and SELECT commands appear
to function the same in Revolution as they did in Hypercard, in Hypercard
type would be sent as though you typed it on the keyboard, so whatever
object had the keyboard focus in Hypercard would get the text typed.  The
only difference is that Revolution doesn't do blindtyping.  I wouldn't agree
that "type" needs a "relation" to select,  I might want a button that times
something where my user chooses to focus the keyboard (i.e. They've clicked
in the right field manually).   So it isn't always the case to have to do a
select.
