For some unfortunate reason, SMTPRcv is stopping for no reason intermittently. It has been running without this happening for at least 3 years, and why it has started now is beyond me.

I'm going to use the KeepAlive batch file, but was wondering if it's OK to use the net start command if the service is already running. The problem is that I'm not getting any Dr. Watson errors. The service just stops, so I was thinking of trying to start it every 5 minutes. Does that sound OK?

my script does that.
it restarts all the services every 60 seconds actually.
it's not a problem.
it also logs the restart, and will e mail you confirmation.

all the extras are in there because a drwatson error is a show stopper.

with a watson error up on the screen, trying to start the service again
while it's logging the error, will screw the machine up and it will
need a reboot to fix it.

which is why i check for the error right before i try to restart all the services.

current version is here:
