   Gnome is currently the most well-integrated desktop on OpenSolaris. 
If you feel KDE
   should be so, then go ahead and contribute to the effort of making 
KDE well-integrated
   with OpenSolaris. For eg. make KPackage functional for SVR4 
packaging, make the
   Kontrol Center plugins functional etc.

   This can be tackled if two downloads are provided. One a basic 
version with a basic
   window manager like Fluxbox and one wih Gnome.

   This dynamic system concept is explicitly mentioned in the 
requirements. The ability
   to take the base kit and tailor your own variants.
