Causing existing Solaris users more pain by making /bin/sh bash is
askin to throwing the baby out with the bath water. /bin/sh should be
the bourne shell as it is supposed to be.

They should have no such expectations. Any developer "worth his salt"
should see the numerous warnings surrounding the use of system and
popen.

I'm not one to cater to broken applications. Fix the problem, don't
"band-aid" it and cover up the real issue.
