Also available in Java. Very much a subjective item not objective.

Does a hardware detection tool really want to be digging around and importing 
random modules from the packaging system rather than just calling the packaging 
tools?

How much are you going to save and where?

We're much better off with one good tool than two mediocre tools.
If SDD is missing a few features, better to add them than write a new tool that 
also only does half the job.
