I'll answer these first, because they are pretty easy. Thanks for all the replies so far--I'll be forcing people to read them closely. :) > * Wouldn't there be issues in the circumstance where a user was using > 2008.11 and wanted to stay on that release but 2009.04 was released > into that repository forcing them to upgrade. One stops using image update, and starts installing versions of entire (or, more likely, a "recommended" package that is constrained by entire). Bart's most recent work makes entire constrain versions more precisely than we had in 2008.05. > * Will there be a proprietary repository for things things like > Flash, acroread, Opera, Fluendo plugins etc? Yes, a repository that requires authentication will be coming online. You can see the proposed instructions in the recent documentation drafts for the Image Packaging System Guide. The contents are still being worked: each component has different contractual/license requirements, some of which require more work than others. Software packages that are not in the historical Solaris product, for example, will have a longer lead time than those already present. > * Any news on http://pkg.opensolaris.org/contrib/? My initial proposal for contrib/, with direct binary submissions from anybody, didn't seem to get much support (although Kosuke pointed out that the Maven repository runs in much the same way). I believe I'm waiting for a counter-proposal from the spec-files-extra effort, but I may be a couple of weeks behind on this one... - Stephen -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://blogs.sun.com/sch/ _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
