Bulls eye! You're absolutely right.
I knew nwam has some problems (which is why I use the old networking
method for my opensolaris servers), but I thought live CD/USB is not
affected by this. Apparently that's my mistake. Thanks for your help.

Is it also the same problem on your setup, Michael?

On a side note, i915 driver is still far from perfect though. This
system works perfect with Ubuntu intrepid (I got 3D compiz desktop).
On opensolaris snv_108 however, what I get is :
- alt-tab not working initally. Strangely enough, alt-1 alt-2 and so
on on gnome-terminal works.
- if I set "Visual Effects" to "Normal" or "Extra", all I get is white
screen. After about 15 seconds it revert back to normal desktop
(without Compiz), but now alt-tab works :)

At least now I'm confident enough to have an Opensolaris live-usb handy :D
