OK, fair enough. Please explain how you would configure and create an Oracle database with an IPS package, completely automatically, without any DBA intervention whatsoever. What needs to happen is, after the package is deployed, the Oracle database processes are running, the TNS listener is accepting connections to the database, and the database is now ready to accept data. SYS, and SYSTEM accounts have been set to random passwords, which have been stored at a private location, read-only by root. All Oracle catalog scripts (catalog.sql, catexp.sql, utlrp.sql, and so on) have been executed. RMAN has been configured. The database is configured to backup via RMAN. The database is ready to have the data pumped into her. How would you do it via IPS, in his current incarnation? Remember, all the sysadmin should have to do is: 1. select the package (either through a web browser, or an automated profile) 2. select a component (which would include the DB creation and RMAN configuration subcomponents) 3. deploy. How would you do that via IPS, today? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
