I'm not quite sure what you mean by the output of /dev/sndstat.
Like this:
cat /dev/sndstat
SunOS Audio Framework
Audio Devices:
0: audiohd#0 onboard1, a (DUPLEX)
Mixers:

Realtek HD codec: ALC888
Builds 117+ have a new sound system, and it is possible that you are
using a new driver now for your sound card.
