This is not ideological purity. There are two or More issues, nothing to do with purity.
1/ Tamil alphabet does not represent sounds, but places of articulation. Other alphabet represents sounds, directly. Hence, we are talking vary alien writing systems. Tamil system is scientifically defined. Grantham for example is randomly picked for some known sounds (of course some of them are funky). 2/ By law of grammar Tamil character already have a character for the duplicate 0bb6 defined again for Tamil by Unicode. It is a deadly distributive act for UC to introduce a duplicate character for Tamil. It is the dictatorial Way the paid officials work. 3/ Grantham does not understand pirappidam R and it's possible variants of sounds. R/T etc... In that R is similar to R in English. Grantham only understands r, which I can not explain the sample in English. Bot it much closer to s softer t, than R. Further to this, the r in sri is like teasing hinthu gods like sri ram, etc.. That is how it is understood by Tamils. Do you like laughing at Lord Ram. go and do that using another medium, like chanting/cursing with a dead language. Thosham. However in Tamil, there are two PoAs with sounds same as English R and Grantham r. So there is a usage conflict in using the symbol sRi, when stricting it to one combination. Because Grantham does not understand, UC should not punish like villains of computing. 4/ Examples: Even in that Hindi/Government websites, two differnt forms of "s" are used to mean different designations for sri, In addition to the additional r/R distinction in Tamil. So we do not want Lord Ram to be laughed at. You do not want Mha sRi Luxmi to be laughed at. So strictingto a particular combination is again a wrong action by UC. By the way, why your show serpriced with JHs reply. Do you have some business like deals, for him not to write? How close is your relationship?
