KOLOM SUPANGKAT:

THE 23 YEAR OLD MYSTERY: WHO IS HOLDING THE "SUPERSEMAR"?

The mystery is 23 years old today: the "Supersemar" document, the Surat Perin-
tah Sebelas Maret 1966 which contained instructions from President Sukarno to
general Suharto to ..............restore law and order.

The content of the document is in perennial doubt since nobody ever read or
knew
who is keeping it or where the document is located. General Suharto claimed
that
the document contained a voluntary handout of power from President Sukarno
to him. But that is only his claim, he never showed the document to other
people,
he received it from the generals confided by Sukarno, like general Yusuf who
is
still alive now.

The historical document of that magnitude has never been recorded in history,
neither being kept in a state archive nor in safe as a classified document.

We can only assume that the document is in nobody else's hands, it is in his
own hands. And so far, nobody seemed to care, except for the old man Subadio
and Ben Andersen who is now pursuing to prosecute Suharto for doing the so-
cal-
led "bloodless creeping coup d'etat".

Ramos Horta vowed to have Suharto be prosecuted as a criminal through his toop
world class lawyers so that he couldn't get out of the country like Prabowo.

The prosecution could only based on logic and a few living witnesses like
General Yusuf who is now obscure and hopefully there are others.

According to our logic, the Supersemar is an written Presidential instruction
to
his Army Commander to do what he got to do: restoring law and order in the
country after the turbulent aftermath of the abortive coup d'etat by the PKI
(Communist Party) and the masssacre of 500.000 to 1.000.000 suspected
communists.

Logically the instructions wouldn't include to get rid of himself as President
of the Republic which Suharto exactly did by putting him under house arrest
and incommunicado as well for a long four years.

Subadio is gone.

Good luck to Ben Andersen, I hope he will succeed.
