Herminio da Silva said the pro-integration leadership had gathered information showing that the UN Mission in East Timor (UNAMET) was biased in favor of independence for the half island territory. "I continue to note UNAMET's lack of neutrality and that position is hurting us a lot", da Silva declared. "I can thus categorically state that we will reject any result that hurts us. That is the position of all supporters of integration", he added. The pro-integration bloc is "very dissatisfied" with the way the "entire process has been conducted", said da Silva, who is also a member of the anti-independence Forum for Unity, Democracy and Justice (FPDK). Da Silva said it was unlikely that the Indonesian parliament would agreee to East Timor's separation from Indonesia if the independence option wins the ballot. "I've spoken to all the political parties that will be in parliament. If as Indonesians we reject the result I think parliament will also reject it", he added. Da Silva criticized the Jakarta government for not consulting the pro-integration leadership and said it had "no capacity" to represent them. "We all know that the current government is not definitive. The future (Indonesian) president is the one who will decide", he declared. The UN-brokered East Timor accord, signed May 5 by Portugal and Indonesia, stipulates that if the East Timorese choose independence in the Aug. 30 plebiscite, the result will be communicated to the Jakarta parliament, which will then vote to separate East Timor from Indonesia. -Lusa- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Didistribusikan tgl. 6 Aug 1999 jam 08:26:13 GMT+1 oleh: Indonesia Daily News Online <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.Indo-News.com/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
