Indonesia is handling it is as one of its internal conflicts," Tanjung told the press Wednesday following a meeting with visiting Dutch Foreign Minister Jozias van Aartsen. The House Speaker also conveyed the "no foreign involment" policy to a US parliamentary delegation, which met him earlier that day. According to Tanjung, during the meeting, the Dutch Minister rejected allegations that Maluku descent living in The Netherlands supplied the weapons to Ambon. "The information is misleading," Tanjung quoted Aarsten as saying. RumoUrs said exponents of the so-called "South Maluku Republic" (RMS) were involved in the sectarian conflicts in Ambon. Aarsten stressed that the RMS exponents were just encouraging reconciliation, not sending firearms.
