"The TNI has no intention and capability to do unexpected things," Juwono said after meeting with the head of state along with TNI chief Admiral Widodo AS at Merdeka Palace on Thursday. Juwono made the remarks in response to rumors that the TNI would launch coup attempts when the President visited a number of countries from Jan 28 to Feb 13. "There is nothing to worry about," he added. Asked what he thought of US Ambassador Richard Hoolbroke's statement about the possibility of the military making coup attempts to overthrow the Wahid and Megawati administration, Juwono said, "Hoolbroke's statement is unfounded and that we do not need to respond to it." On the resignation of four military officers currently serving as cabinet minister, Juwono said the draft presidential decree on the question had been submitted to the president. "The draft has been on Gus Dur's (the president's nick name) table now. But I don't know whether or not he has signed it," he added. The four military oficers are Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Gen Wiranto, Minister for Mines and Energy Lt.Gen Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono, Minister for Transportation Lt.Gen Agum Gumelar and State Minister for Administrative Reforms Rear Admiral Freddy Numbery.
