Dear Betty
Actually I think your response to Steve's email was quite appropriate!
Re the OzIndo Project- I was very happy to welcome the group in Byron Bay
and to get to know them a little bit - I also organised a fund raiser to
raise money for their food relief program in Indonesia and East Timor. It is
true that the media has been focussing on the East Timor side of things -
pathetic isn't it - Jan Lingard, one member of OzIndo has been collecting
incidences of media misrepresentation and will publish an article about it
when they get back home- maybe in Inside Indonesia.
Anyway - they are raising money for Indonesia and I would suggect that you
email OzIndo Project directly to suggest a food relief program in Ambon -
[EMAIL PROTECTED] . Also - as Darwin is the sister city of Ambon ( and
I have heard that they were concerned about wanting to provide support in
some way ) I would suggest that you contact Darwin City Council as they may
be interested in hearing from people regarding proposals for aid for Ambon.

While I don't agree with the tone of Steve's letter, he does have a point -
Fiona Collins decided to ride around Australia to raise $50,000 for
Indonesia with support people Jan and Timoer. 3 people raised a lot of money
and gave up work and normal life for 10 months. While we can't all do that -
if you are really wanting to raise money for Ambon - you can do it! Just
start small and work together with a charitable organisation like OzIndo or
Freedom From Hunger - even just sending out emails to ask for donations
might help, or holding fundraising events in your local community - like
Ambon Night . This also helps to raise awareness and connect people to work
together for an important cause.

Good Luck and best wishes-
Judy
