It occurs to me that if AFS had group hierarchies, no one would need to put more than a thousand users in a group, making UBIK's limitation on large groups irrelevant. If anyone (Transarc or not) does consider the group size problem, hierarchies would be more useful to more sites than UBIK bulk upgrades.
