Sorry to hear that (but it's almost indispensable for me). Btw they're
complementary and not mututally exclusive.

At the very worst, couldn't you:

Collect all the dormant marked article numbers into a file (on group
exit), include that in the cloud's upload, and read & mark them back on
nnimap group entry? Or, if you have only one system, use that file itself?
