Layne-

We take a random sample of our 8th graders, and pull
them together for an assessment. They are given an assignment that
involves research and then a creating a PowerPoint. All the names of
students are removed, and they are given an anonymous number, and then
our group of Teacher Librarians judge them on several different points.

We are talking about revising the entire process, as the
kids are leaving out all of the research, and just making transistions
in PowerPoint. When we get that done I would be happy to share.

Subject: [info-tech] Technology Proficiency of 8th graders

I would like to hear from other districts on what they are doing to
assess proficiency of 8th graders with Technology for the Spring BEDS
report.

We collected data last year, but would like to get more accurate and
actually do some hands on for computer skills in software application
and Internet use.

Thanks,

Layne Henn
