Hi,

We have 40 classrooms at the MS/HS with mounted projectors and sound. We call
them our "DLT" (digital learning & teaching) classrooms and Webster City calls
their version a "smart classroom". We started having custom drop in ceiling
speakers built by Ray Pregitzer in Ames (515)233-5003. These speakers are about
$120 ea. but are awesome. He went out of business for awhile but I just talked
to him about another speaker order and he is back in the speaker production
business. Attached is a picture of his speaker. We used a 40 watt RadioShack
amp (32-2054) and they have worked great also. Our local RadioShack dealer
provided very good pricing for us, Webster City and Fairfield. I'm sure he
would do this again in quantity.

We have also used this Bose speaker which comes as a pair and you only need one
per classroom. Bose does also have an education discount program.

I am curious in that as well . . . the teachers here are begging to get
projectors mounted, as they are sick of having cords what seems like
everywhere. Currently we run them off of cars.

I am also curious about the sound/speaker option(s). We were probably going to
look at mounting projectors in the upcoming year (along with a sound option).

Layne-

Your last remark is funny. We are trying to get to mounting
projectors in every classroom. They are always connected and ready to go, and
we are just going to need the big screen for more and more things in the
future. Maybe I am missing something, but our teachers that have love them,
and the teachers that don't want to get there.

What are your thoughts on going away from them?

Jeremy

We are going with the AVerMedia 300AF+
Small footprint, collapsible - good picture and video capabilities- easy
software. Under $600!!
laser guides are nice feature.
The only thing I don't like is that you can't turn the light on or off with the
remote.
Looked at the lumens with the gooseneck arm - but it didn't seem as durable for
putting on carts. These are nice doc. cams. for the price, though.
We bought AVerMedia530 last year. It is way too much for how we use it. Plus,
big $$.

Hope this helps.
We are trying to get away from mounting projectors in classrooms. Any opinions
here?
Layne

We have some of the AVerMedia AVerVision 150 -- which have worked fine. I just
ordered another batch off the co-op. A few of our classrooms have the
Elmo--but I'm not sure they are worth the extra money they had cost.

We have been using the Promax/Qomo products that are on the Co-op.

Layne over at Sioux City has done a lot of research on them. Hopefully he will
chime in.

What are people using for document cameras and what do you like/dislike about
them.

We have two Elmo TT02S 9419 in the system currently. Not overly excited about
them. Wondering what others use.

Thanks
