I saw this once in my former life as a virus remover. Safeboot apparently changes the MBR. So, even if you just reformat the disk it still looks for it.
So, does the image machine still boot? I cannot remember right now how I fixed it. Did you wipe the clones HDs before imaging to them or just write the image to an existing partition? If it is the same issue I saw you have to fix the MBR so it isn't looking for the Safeboot files. Good luck.
