When I create the image it was from a complete nuke and pave install, but when I re-image a machine it is just wiping C: and placing the image. I actually went a very simple route and just used the recovery console to fix the MBR and that seems to have taken care of it. I should have started there.

I saw this once in my former life as a virus remover. Safeboot
apparently changes the MBR. So, even if you just reformat the disk it
still looks for it.

So, does the image machine still boot?

I cannot remember right now how I fixed it. Did you wipe the clones HDs before imaging to them or just write the image to an existing partition?

If it is the same issue I saw you have to fix the MBR so it isn't
looking for the Safeboot files.

Good luck.

Yeah... tried running the little exe no love (thanks though). I just
don't understand how if I erase the drive that there could be a little
pain in the butt file.

Karl-

I found this, not sure if it helps. Sounds to me like a BIOS av
or tracing program. Anyway, best of luck:

Subject: [info-tech] SafeBoot Corruption

I received a bunch of Dell C840 laptops from a federal agency. I set
one up the way I wanted, fresh install XP SP3 and all the apps. I then
used my handy dandy duplication setup. Bart PE using DriveImageXML to
copy and then put the image on the new laptops. This setup has worked
perfectly for me in the past. Well I try and boot one of the cloned
machines and get a SafeBoot has been corrupted (error92h) I have no
idea what this means. As part of the image process the HD is wiped
clean so I am very confused. Ideas?
