If you are looking to purchase a new machine for JMC I would purchase a
Windows Server. I was up to JMC over the Christmas break and we were
talking about the new Web based version of JMC. It is being developed with
the .NET tools, and as such will require a Windows server to run, or at
least running on a Windows Server OS.

I procrastinated too long on the MySQL. Had the info converted, and had
an issue with MySQL. (Turns out on PPC XServe running 10.4.11 Server,
you have to manually turn on MySQL)
I am going to move to it this coming year.
I would recommend an Intel Based Server Class Machine running 10.5.x or
10.6.x that way you have the latest MySQL and all its bells and whistles,
plus the intel infrastructure running a machine designed to be run 24/7.
