We use Skype quite a bit here, and have seen no major problems (technical ones, anyway). We've never really had any trouble with Skype traffic getting through, and I'm not sure why, really, because I don't feel like I've done anything special to make it work. Our firewall setup is simple, and our content filters are fairly open.

Our content filter stops it as P2P traffic (which it really is...). I could get past that if I could use a specific port, but Skype is all over the place on ports, and you can only set a static inbound port, not outbound. I am working with the vendor (Deep Nines), but I am curious what others are doing. Google Talk anyone? Jim Kerns Spencer Community Schools 23 East 7th St P.O.
