Okay, with Howie's help, I think we've got the problem solved.
The issue appears to be that the iMS database got corrupted somehow. I didn't
notice prior to posting this thread, but one of my queue files was about 8MB
big, and was made up almost entirely of log lines like this:
01/23/2008 12:59:58 AM GetRec (init) exception: Access violation at address
00402935 in module 'inFusionPOST.exe'. Read of address 00000069
Howie said this indicated that the database (located in out\database) had been
corrupted. He said I should do the following to resolve the issue:
1) make sure no AV software was scanning the out\database\ folder
2) Stop the POST service
3) Delete all files in the out\database\ folder
4) restart POST service
He said if I did this, mail would start flowing out from the queue again.
However, that actually didn't work for me. His next suggestion was as follows:
1) Stop POST service
2) Delete files in out\database\
3) Move files from out\queued\ to out\
4) Start POST service
Upon doing that, mail started flowing out again. The biggest problem is that
iMS didn't alert me promptly to let me know that the database had been
corrupted, so some percentage of the files sitting in the queue had expired,
which presumably means they won't be sent at all.
Anyway, I hope this helps somebody else down the line.
