Sure, I think that the translators are promoting the usage of professional translation tools which are not officially recognized by the project which is counter intuitive to appealing more contributors to the project.
I can understand why using of proprietary tools might be an issue but what about Weblate? It's portable and comfortable with an option to use the repo in the "old fashioned" way side by side.
