Yes. It may be faster...
But the overhead of keeping flar files for all the combinations of
machines I jumpstart is prohibitive.
I have Begin scripts that generate the profiles on the fly, and finish
scripts that make further on the fly decisions about further
customizations based on the machine and the job it will be given.
To have to make flar images for every combination of choices is a lot of
work. To have to update them all when 1 common part of the configuration
changes is impossible.
The speed of flash archives is nice when you need to take the machine
down. But with LU it's really irrelevant. If I can do the Jumpstart
while the machine is up, and reboot, I care alot less how long the
install takes, and the administrative overhead savings of not managing
the library of flar files is an even bigger win!
