If you don't have an abundance of machines and you can not do an
"upgrade", having live upgrade able to do an initial install without a
flar would be very helpful.  While maybe not the most common
situation, the last time I needed to install my crusty old machine
that didn't have a DVD drive (and I refuse to feed it CD's for several
hours), I had to some really ugly stuff.

I have had real needs to do this when I needed to install Solaris on a
machine that is in a location that is both distant from me
(impractical to insert a CD/DVD) and lacks network boot capabilities
(no Jumpstart servers on subnet, no DHCP forwarders, wanboot not
available in firmware/remote jumpstart servers).
