Well then maybe it's just a 'naming' problem then. I mean JDS does stand 
for Java Desktop System right?
I guess though if there's no 'java' in it then there's really no reason 
to stay honest and keep the 'desktop' in it is there? ;)

This library ought to be moved to some other pkg then If it's going to 
start to be used all across Solaris, then libglib.so ought to be in the 
same pkg as libc.so. No?

I know I don't need the rest of it. (except the thing it depends on 
which may not be many in this case, but is very often several other 
packages in the GNOME world.) I just think you'll have alot of customers 
saying I don't want GNOME on here at all, and wondering why they're 
being forced to install even a tiny part.

GNOME is widley regarded as part of a windows system, that means it 
carries the mindset of bulky code, possible network connections, and 
security risks that come with more network visibility... Some how the 
RmVolMgr needs to be able to work without appearing saddled with all that.
