Exactly. Which is why one more or less needs the swap slice.

Yes, but the performance is worse.

And for that reason, there would be no change of state of affairs with the 
default layout of / swap and /export/home; I'm simply suggesting that 
/export/home be done away with as a separate slice (not that it should go away 
alltogether).

Yes, but that warrants modification of the default layout anyway. Whether that 
default layout is what it is today or some other layout is irrelevant, 
modification would have to be performed anyway to accomodate for LU.

My proposal does not affect LU in any way, as the user would still have the 
option to slice up the disk at will, just as one does now.
