Update: Upgrading the OBP has helped somewhat.
On the U10, it is now working and booting fine off the x24 CRDOM builtin. Thanks! On the SB100, the OBP upgrade made the PC CDROM 'work'. It appears that that CDROM isn't compatible with the SB100. but it does read a bit of the CD whic is more than it used to do. But on the SB100, the Sun-Original 'Lite-On LTN-485S' still refuses to work. Does anyone know of, or where to get a firmware upgrade for this drive itself? It appears that there were several problems going on here. Whic of course explains why the symptoms made so little sense.
