Your original message said this:

For web patching I introduced additional parsing mechanism which
parse manifest file. Patch records in manifest file is same as they
are in /var/sadm/pkg/*/pkginfo with small addition - package
information. This manifest is generated by pkgadd -m modification
which output it for specified patchbase.

Where's the documentation of "pkgadd -m"? Does "manifest" here equate
to pkginfo(4) -- or is it something else?

Allow me to introduce you to the concept of a "review."

The author -- you -- sends out some material that he'd like others to
examine. It's well understood that the author is (naturally) the
expert in what he's doing. The reviewers may in fact have varying
levels of expertise, and almost certainly not all in the same
functional areas.

It is the reviewer's job to ask pertinent questions. It is the
author's job to answer them. Yes, it does mean that some questions
will look "silly" or just "wrong." In some cases, that's because the
reviewer misunderstood the materials. In some cases, it's because the
materials themselves are unclear, missing key information, or are just
poorly written. In still other cases, the issues represent discovered
flaws in the proposal.

It's by nature a messy process. But by requiring that your reviewers
construct "perfect" questions for you to answer, you are making it
impossible for anyone to comment on and help you improve the design.

Please do reconsider providing a constructive response to Dave's
questions.
