surprisingly enough, on my third try I did get it to do a base install!  
Although, going from this to a working GUI I have a feeling will be a LOT of 
work.  I guess *fortunately?* for me, my female compadre is out of town for the 
weekend so I'll have plenty of free time to waste on it.
