Thanks for the input. Janice mentioned that possibility of java upgrades, which I went ahead and did. I was running version 1.5 of java for compatibility reasons with some other very old apps. 1.6 seems to be working fine so far, but I need to do some regression testing with older software.
Thanks to both of you for a very expeditious response. As a side note, I thought that IMRA included its own version of java in the bundle. I would say it's probably for mitigating situations like this. Might be good to document java requirements so that we know where we need to be.
