Hi Ted, If I understand you correctly, those problems all sound DataCenter-related. When you say that IM couldn't connect to its database, do you mean the database component of IM DataCenter? And are you using the auth component of IM DataCenter for authentication?
If so, then if DataCenter failed to start up, or was still in the process of starting, that would explain both symptoms. Could you elaborate on what you mean when you say that DataCenter is gone? If you're referring to its entry in the system tray app, we actually just folded it in with the IM entry; Stop/Start for IM now stops/starts the DataCenter component at the same time. Possibly there's a bug in our installer whereby it's not starting the DataCenter after install, and since it no longer has a separate entry in the tray app, it's difficult to figure out how to start it.
