i agree that it is way to late now for changing things in PEAR but i still think it was a bad choice in the first place (both in general and especially when taking PHPs special case sensitivity in account)

regarding classes implemented by extensions i am not so sure,
IMHO compatibility with existing naming schemes in previous
versions of PHP is more important than PEAR CS compatibility
