It's not all that uncommon to have a couple of versions of tools installed on 
most
OS's. Wouldn't it be fairly easy to simply require flex-2.4? That is, search 
for flex-2.4
and on/if failure, return: We require flex $version, but you have $version. 
Please
install $version and try again. Wouldn't that be a simple task? It seems like 
it'd
be alot easier and more informative.

Just a thought.
