I would like to add that it would be nice to at least follow these code paths at run time on Linux. This would allow us to run tools over the SingleThread code paths like Valgrind and Klockworks. Up to this point & AFAIK, these tools have NOT been run over the *_singlethread.* code paths.
So, bringing support in Scons to build for SingleThread or MultiThread would be nice to have at this point in time. Any other discussion for removal or merging of these code paths, are of a different nature. Thanks for reading my input, as I believe the above paragraph is VERY necessary.
