Let me just add that when we started from the existing iotivity code base it became clear how bad the platform support in iotivity was compared to most open source projects (e.g., that use config.h based feature checks) including the extlibs that iotivity depends on. In the windows-port branch we have been trying to clean that up one step at a time by making iotivity more like how projects are supposed to be. It?s not all the way there yet (we used platform_features.h as an interim step towards config.h), but I would hate to see changes that make iotivity move away from that, and I?m happy to help contribute to it since iotivity is really painful to use right now.

Actually, we are planning to have a F2F meeting for deciding project structure. I have a question. Is there any candidate for maintainer of this project when platform extension project will be created? Maybe, he will cover not only windows port but also platform abstract layer. Please See IOT-1118: https://wiki.iotivity.org/iotivity_1.2.0_release_plan However, our branch is not merged because we are waiting for someone to say ?you are allowed to proceed? The windows-port branch enables compilation with Visual Studio including automatic unit tests. We would like to integrate these changes into master so that Jenkins can be used to ensure any additional changes are built with Windows and Visual Studio compatibility in mind.
