A few simple facts:

* A contributing member of the community (that would be me) was viscously
attacked by another (contributing?) member, in very personal terms.
(Opinion: a vile piece of character assassination.)

* A "leader" of the community responded by apologizing - to the attacker!!!
He even took the trouble to sign his message *as* an official, which he
does not normally do.

I'm not (too) mad, just mildly disappointed; after all this is the
internet, the occasional dose of ad-hominem vitriol is to be expected. But
I confess I expected (stupidly) something a little better from a putative
"leader" of the community. Like, trying to defuse rather than intensify
conflict? Taking sides, forgetting that there are two sides to every story
- not really what I personally like to see in a leader.

He could have adopted a more irenic attitude. For example:

Dear <sir/madame>,

I'm sorry that you are upset, but I hope you will not let the opinions of
one person sour you on an entire community. Also, in future please do not
engage in personal attacks. If someone says something you find upsetting,
you may find it more productive to a) take a breather; and b) explain in
neutral language just what you found upsetting and ask for clarification.
That way you give the other party the chance to clarify and/or make amends.
After all it could be the case that you have misunderstood, or that the
other guy expressed himself poorly, or that one or both of you was just
having a bad day. Please try to stay focused on the issue, instead of
villifying somebody you have probably never even met.

I'm not going away mad. Anybody interested in the tooling, bug fixes etc.
I've done is welcome to file an issue on OpenOCF. If you want to move any
of that stuff to Iotivity I am willing to help.

By the way, ever notice that the ending of Ogre is the begining of Gregg?
Coincidence?

Love,

Ogre(GG)
