Some questions --

Unfortunately, due to the memory limits (~400kb)

Where does that memory restriction come from ? I wouldn't try to
support EDGE with the advanced features its just not worth it.

You're hosted server , what kind of environment is it, will they let
you run java. Do you know java?
I'm thinking you could keep some of the extra content you want to add
serverside, yes its still webbased but it would still allow a thin
client.

Think about this.

1) An iphone is connected close to 99% , so for that 1% they arn't
just don't provide the new stuff. "sorry you must be connected to the
web to access these features" or some other alert.

2) webkit/htm5 supports a lot of new features accessable from the
web , what didn't hear about some of these? We just came off our Non
Disclosure agreement.
Persistant storage to the device, able to access location
information.

3) You could try compressing your data, convert all jpg's to png for
one thing. Use the sqllite database to store your text strings if your
not already

if you like you can email me at [email protected] and I
might have some other ideas.

I'd love to help you with a native app but unfortunately I am already
committed to finishing our tagalong suite which is going to consist of
4 apps. And 3.0 changed our direction a lot.
