to be able to do it at all. Even if I have to prompt the user to do
it, I'm fine.

What would be nice is if Apple provided a mechanism that allows developers to create a button in a page that says "Add to Home Screen" and when the user clicks the button it asks them if they want to create the bookmark. "See and touch" is so much better than Read instructions about what to do, then touch +, then choose from the menu and touch "Add to Home Screen".
