Dear Sarah and all the others.
For what it is worth, my two Eurocents worth.

Logging conversations within europe does not pose any form of a legal issue.
After all, when implemented within a company, or even companies, one is
bound by strict rules regarding the usage of "company internet time".
Several cases are known whereby staff were dismissed due to severe abuse.
The funny thing is that the bunch of clients for which I am testing actually
like the logging feature. That way they don't have to take notes but can ask
for the log and have an instant report of the conversation as took place.

There is however no need to inform users in Europe regarding this logging of
conversations. Without being harsh here disclaimers seem to be an American
thing, one doesn't see them as much here.
The main consent in the Netherlands being "if you're old enough to use a
computer, you're old enough to see this".

Another matter is that more and more police forces are demanding that log
files are being kept of all that is going on. Therefpre being able to trace
possible "crimes" being discussed via any form of electronic media.

Hope I haven't launched the cat amongst the pidgeons now

Nic
