Another possibility would be somewhere in southwestern Australia. I'm not sure about real estate prices but the advantages would include - being in or near a large city (Perth) and all the amenities that go with it - being in a relatively affluent English speaking country - a relatively moderate climate - a few local or semi-local AM stations, including a couple of 50 kwers, but not nearly as many as you'd deal with in the US - many miles of sparsely populated coastline for putting up Beverage antennas - lots of interesting DX targets on the other side of the Indian Ocean - most of the skywave interference from the east would fade out well before dawn - you're about as far as you can get from IBOC interference, assuming the Aussies don't decide to adopt it too
