John, it might be on channels where there was actual programming. However on 1230 and 1240, its fairly undifferentiated mush mosta the time... and I can't tell them apart. I just want to set the radio on one of those mush frequencies and record TOH for a whole night, a'la GY DXing.... Any using a spotter radio, as you suggest, is generally considered kosher, I think. Honestly, I'd like something where I did not have to quit listening to a tough catch or tune the dial at all to confirm where I am.... I think maybe a signal generator is what I need.... to just reach over and twist in a whistle and read a digital dial.... unless summa these folks know a better way. John B.
