John C'man, Using a spotter radio is kosher unless it is made from porcine product. Rabbi Gil
John B, Over the past few years I've built 4 smd digital dials for various projects. I had one around the shack and tried to hook it up to the 59, but everyplace I checked, detuned the radio. This was before I had the schematic. I tried buffering with the recommended capacitor, but it may take a fet buffer. This is about #35 on my to do list. You don't need a digital frequency meter if you have an old boat anchor frequency meter. In aligning a couple of 59s, I didn't feel like rigging up or calibrating the digital dial, so I connected a coupling ferrite loopstick to the RF output of my ancient Lafayette T20, a tuber, the analog dial not to be trusted, and hung a wire out of the R8B's 500 ohm antenna clip, tuned the Drake to the frequencies of interest with the 500Hz filter enabled and dialed the T20 until the tone was heard and went from there. I probably didn't need the tight filter, but why not? 73 Gil _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
