[~jnadeau], Since you use protoc in Drill, can you please review the protoc
build aspects of this patch? Is it preferable to check in generated files, or
to generate at build time (even if this means everyone who builds has to
install protobuf)? Is generation best accomplished via scripts or via a maven
profile?
