Nick Dimiduk commented on HBASE-13339:
--------------------------------------

In line with [~busbey]'s concerns, I'd like to see this an a chance to exercise
[~dimaspivak]'s new check_compatibility.sh script. Dima, can you give us some
guidance on how to use the script to check transitive dependencies of this
upgrade? Ideally we can get this as simple as a +1/-1/-0 vote from the script
and incorporate it into jenkins.

I'd like to review all deps on branch-1 as well, maybe hadoop version to 2.5.2
-- but only if I have confidence in not breaking folks.

> Current default Hadoop version is getting a little long in the tooth. We
> should update to the latest version. The latest version is backwards
> compatible with 2.5.1's dfs and mr so this should be painless.
