I also wonder if we couldn't speed up iteration and use some parallelism by engaging more people, fixating on a single task that went south, and seeing if we can reproduce the slowdown with a smaller index on commodity hardware? Then we wouldn't have to guess and check and wait a whole day .... But ... did we already do that?
