Even with the instructions it is taking me longer than a minute to implement the workaround (and it is certainly not intuitive). I would recommend the software detecting if the copy/cut and paste operation is occurring within the same document or a different document (if it is occurring within the same document the software should operate as it has historically done and maintain a link to the original data).
